Hello,
I have a Ubuntu and a Windows System running on eeePC 1000H. I want to install archlinux without usb on the empty /dev/sda1, but I can only have 4 primary partitions. I try to edit the menu entry of grub2 to boot the iso-file:
I try three methods...
1. Write ISO-file into /dev/sda1 and manually enter grub2 commands
The method with my parameters here do not work:
http://www.codeismight.com/2011/05/inst … usb-drive/
grub do not know the command root.
2. Manually edit menu entry in grub2
After that I downloaded the Linux bootloader to /boot:
https://releng.archlinux.org/pxeboot/
and change the menu entry with
$ gksu gedit /etc/grub.d/40_custom
$ sudo update-grub
After reboot grub shows the menu entry in the list, but it does not boot it.
3. Use grml
Then I try it with grml ( https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2 … ry_Example )
$ sudo apt-get install grml-rescueboot
$ sudo mv ~/Downloads/<filename.iso> /boot/grml/
$ sudo update-grub
After reboot grml appears in the list, but it does not boot.
What is wrong ? and
so long
joyce
