I updated on Monday via pacman -Syuu and Skype is segfaulting on me as well. I have KDE, not gnome.
This is on an i686 machine.

I seem to be getting the same today.. I only use Skype once in a blue moon, so not sure when this started.
Got some gdb love for you.

I'm getting the same error as nperry, I'm guessing is related with the lib32-glib2 upgrade.

$ yaourt -S multilib/lib32-glib2
worked for me.

The same issue here with i686 archlinux.

There is a bug report for arch: FS#34630 and an upstream bug report here:
https://jira.skype.com/browse/SCL-977
The upstream bug has a workaround for the time being.

Yes. I can confirm that. Just downgrade this package. All will work well.
And here's an available official repo from China.
http://mirrors.sohu.com/archlinux/multilib/os/x86_64/
I can't find other official repo with lib32-glib2-2.34.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz available except this one.
**** downgrade from 2.36 to 2.34. ****
Aoso, some may face the problem that gdm fails to startup. Temporary, I switch to other launcher to launch gnome-shell.
Hope this helps.

Had it in the cache and worked for me too
yaourt -U /opt/arch/pacman/pkg/lib32-glib2-2.34.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

You can avoid downgrade by just installing in your home folder the one library that mess up things with skype.
Take a look here : https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=154571
