Re: [Solved] Google Earth has caught signal 11

It has to do with certain things that I believe are outlined when you first install the package.

You mean Graphics Card driver ?, if yes already, installed, "ati-dri", "lib32-ati-dri".

Re: [Solved] Google Earth has caught signal 11

No he means the font issue, which is well documented in both a post install message and the AUR comments.

Re: [Solved] Google Earth has caught signal 11

NOTE: The binary is called 'google-earth'
NOTE2: This package now uses its own font config, effectively skipping the 'faulty' ones.
       The following configs can now be reinstalled:
       * /etc/fonts/conf.d/65-fonts-persian.conf (owned by 'fontconfig')
       * /etc/fonts/infinality/styles.conf.avail/infinality/21-aliases-wine-win7-inf.conf
       * /etc/fonts/infinality/styles.conf.avail/infinality/60-group-non-tt-fonts.conf
       * /etc/fonts/infinality/styles.conf.avail/infinality/60-group-tt-fonts.conf
       (all three owned by 'fontconfig-infinality')

I don't know what i need do...

Re: [Solved] Google Earth has caught signal 11

You probably just need to rename /etc/fonts/conf.d/65-fonts-persian.conf to append .sav on the end.  I don't even have fontconfig-infinality installed.

Re: [Solved] Google Earth has caught signal 11

Good Job @hotvic that fixed it for me....GE7 not only works but it
works well. Better than ever before for me on Arch.
everyone else; the font issues are passe' now and have been fixed.
               sudo mv ~/.drirc ~/.drirc.sav

Re: [Solved] Google Earth has caught signal 11

I don't have a .drirc but I do have this problem.  Renaming  /etc/fonts/conf.d/65-fonts-persian.conf as recommended above fixes it for me.

@rufus, you do not need sudo to perform actions on files in your homedir.  Why would you use it?

Re: [Solved] Google Earth has caught signal 11

ok then thank you . The maintainer had declared at one recent point that the font issues were history,
    obviously that isn't the case. I thought I was addressing those with fully updated systems.
        the reason I used sudo was/is because it works..... no other reason...I was trying merely
             to offer a quick paste method, thats all, and one that would work universally.....

     incidentally; 'tho I thoroughly enjoyed ,actually, relish 'Safe as Milk' the good cap'n was quite

            to see genius in nonsensible words strung together cuz they sound good is imaginative i commend you....

Re: [Solved] Google Earth has caught signal 11

I'm sorry about the misleading post.  I didn't notice I hadn't got the AUR update until afterwards.  I must say I really don't know what to make of the second paragraph.

Re: [Solved] Google Earth has caught signal 11

ah well there you are...I apologize as well., I thot I detected an attitude (which is easy to do on Arch boards, unfortunatly)
    the second paragraph is a shot at your signature its an old quote from Captain Beefheart, "Safe as Milk" was a classic
        and GREAT album from before Trout Mask where the quote eminated from...strangely I knew him a long time ago
             from that very period.... one of my many sojourns thru the oblivion...pleez dont mind me.

I have google-earth installed because I keep having problems with google-earth6, but google-earth is painfully nonresponsive.  (Break a new thread if necessary, but it is Signal 11).  The font thing is moved to aur, and rebuilding the package from scratch doesn't change anything.

Re: [Solved] Google Earth has caught signal 11

I just built google-earth6 by itself on a new Arch install (of a time bombed XP machine) and it worked just fine.  Maybe something wrong with my dependencies somewhere?
