Installing packages with usb connected android phone

Hello all

Right now I don't have internet at home so I want to connect my android phone and download packages with it's internet connection. I have tried many different ways to tether and none work so that's not an option. I was thinking of writing a script to generate a list of needed packages then download them with some adb command. But I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions?

I got easytether to work! But the 3g speeds are painfully slow
