Loooong or shrt listing during pacman download

sometimes, the current download status for packages is shown with a single line and hashes which fill out a space, but sometimes, there is a new line in the console window every second or so (and sometimes the hash field is empty).
Is this a problem, something related to the specific packages, or something else?
Just wondering.
