Firefox is out now, and it's now possible to build it for other languages support. So i wonder if there will have some localized packages for firefox on "extra" like there are for OpenOffice ?
thanks

I think this would break with KISS. What´s the problem to install only one *.xpi file ???

sorry but i don't understand... this doesn't break the "KISS" for OpenOffice ? why not Firefox ?
the use of *.xpi is good for one user, not for 100 or more...

Because with OpenOffice, you have packages containing language files. With Firefox, you'd have a separate binary for each language.

But it is still stupid. My children and husband use two computers. Installing firefox on them means not only to install it, but to install the language file for each user, too.
I attend your idea, Comete.
How do you think of packaging firefox for your language, and add to aur, then. Or create a package for the aur to just add language files to existing firefoxes.
Had a look at debian's pages, it would need a set of files like that:
usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/extensions/{69C47786-9BEF-49BD-B99B-148C9264AF72}/chrome/de-DE.jar web/mozilla-firefox-locale-de-de
usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/extensions/{69C47786-9BEF-49BD-B99B-148C9264AF72}/install.rdf web/mozilla-firefox-locale-de-de

Hmm... Frugalware has language packages for Firefox, and they're a well under a megabyte each.
