[solved]Arch linux mixxx 1.10.1 x64 and Stanton scs.3D midi controller

I'm running arch 64bits on a thinkpad x230 and recently bought a used stanton scs.3D midi controller to use with mixxx.

Following mixxx wiki instructions, I plugged the scs.3d , waited till it initialized to blue and then fired up mixxx, but then the midi controller preferences panel only has a message "no midi devices available".

lsusb shows the device is connected and it appears as /dev/midi1 and the --midiDebug parameter to mixxx shows it scanning for midi devices but nothing more. pastebin of the full log

lsusb
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0d60:7901 IVL Technologies, Ltd

ls -lah /dev/midi1
crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 14, 18 Apr 23 10:57 /dev/midi

As it is my first time fiddling with midi on linux and I couldn't find relevant documentation, I am a bit clueless about the course of action to make the stanton controller appear in mixxx. Care to help me with that ?

It was a permission issue, adding the user to audio group fixed it.

Found out about the solution while reading the jack wiki article here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/JACK#Install
