[SOLVED] flash sound stopped working

Hi,

For the last few days, all Flash audio has stopped working, in both Firefox and Chrome. What's more, if I try to use Flash audio, other apps such as mplayer will then say "/dev/dsp : device or resource busy", until I close the offending browser, then mplayer will work again.

It is happening even after I killed pulseaudio.  The recent flash update did not fix it.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

For the record the problem still occurs.  It occurs in KDE and in Gnome, and I even downgraded the flash-plugin to one I know worked before.

Any ideas?

Re: [SOLVED] flash sound stopped working

do you have qt5 installed? it was causing issues on my system with audio devices, I removed it (not very scientific solution, I know but I did not really need it) and sound has been working fine since then.

/dev/dsp is opensound, rather than ALSA - are you sure you want to be using that?

Well! I'm not sure if that was it or not (oss actually was not installed) but digging into that made me go into the KDE Control Center and set PulseAudio as the top in the preference list, and that seems to solve the problem!

Thanks

And yes I do have qt5 installed, but I want it.  (I was programming against it, though the project is not active at the moment.)

Trying to set the [solved] tag here, but how to do so is eluding me ...

Go back to the first post in the thread and click the edit button.  That will let you edit the title as well.
