Hi,
When is qt 4 comming in stable ?
What is the reason that even after so many days it is not in stable?
Regards,
Abhay

KDE is currently porting the SVN trunk to qt4, so you'll have to wait...

But qt isn't depended on kde , it's the other way around .

Wha... Isn't QT 4 still kind of experimental? As in, might break things, so you don't want to use it on a stable system?

Qt4 is stable. It has even reached version 4.0.1 if I'm not mistaken.
AFAIK, there is no application in the repos depending on it. That might be the reason for Qt4 not being in the repos yet, as it is just a library.
Well, that's not a very good reason... but I can accept it for now as it doesn't bother me much... since I don't have any Qt4 app to compile either.

Can it be used as a replacement for QT 3.x?

Nope. Qt4 is not backwards compatible. It has been mostly rewritten. Qt4 can coexist next to Qt3.
Sample situation: KDE4 is most likely the largest application using Qt4 today. Porting KDE from Qt3 to Qt4 started some months ago in a separate branch.

"Nope. Qt4 is not backwards compatible."
This explains the reason why we do not have qt4. It is not required unless KDE4 comes to stable ( the only application which uses qt4).
