VLC plays back mpeg2 from either dvb-t or mpeg2 files as a garbabled mess since libdvbpsi upgrade.
This is also stopping me-tv from playing dvb-t video as it uses the vlc lib
Issue cured for now by downgrading (1.1.0-1 downto 0.2.2-1)
I'm using a fully up to date x64 system in the UK

Typical vlc output with a grey video output with random coloured blocks. No sound is decoded either.

I don't use VLC. Can you change demuxers in the config somewhere? Like mplayer.
mplayer dvb://ABC -demuxer mpegts
I thought that someone told me that dvb-t was
mplayer dvb://ABC -demuxer lavf
There was a thread on here, with a dvb-t prob like that.

changing the vlc config may not effect how other applications use the libvlc.
libdvbpsi worked before, why not now ???? does vlc need a rebuild ?

I have a complete failure of dvb using two separate pctv-290e devices after upgrade to libdvppsi-1.1.0-1. I have latest arch running on x64. I find my vlc starts working with dvb if I downgrade to libdvbpsi-0.2.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz.

Sorry to have posted too soon. Seems the latest release 1:0.2.2-1 has fixed the issue. Strange that the versions seem out of step.

It's not out of step. The "1:" is an epoch. They're downgrading to 0.2.2 because vlc isn't compatible with the new api, and adding an epoch was the only way of using pacman to downgrade automatically.

Scimmia, thanks for the clarification. I suppose it's because pacman has no way to withdraw a package and revert to an earlier one.

This problem is back after upgrading vlc and libdvbpsi
I get this from me-tv-client running from konsole
[tim@timpc ~]$ me-tv-client

mpeg2 dvb-t recordings also wont play in vlc anymore

don't hapens for me using plan vlc maybe its a MeTV specific issue.

Both Me-TV and Kaffeine are affected by the libdvbpsi 1.1 upgrade, i.e. they fail to decode DVB-C when the latest library version is installed. So it's not just a Me-TV-related problem I think.
Offline
I can confirm that after upgrading
libdvbpsi (1:0.2.2-1 -> 1:1.1.0-1)
vlc (2.0.8.a-1 -> 2.1.0-2)
this combination crashes when trying to play DVB-T with VLC.

After further investigation, the problem (for me) is with me-tv.
This is because me-tv-client is not not passing the UDP MPEG TS STREAM MRL to libvlc in the proper/new way.
If I run me-tv-client and then launch
vlc udp://@:2005
it plays the dvb-t stream fine (but not embedded in me-tv)
