[SOLVED] USB HeadSet Audio Issue

Hello

I am having a problem with my USB Heaset I use, whenever I turn on my system the the sounds of the system work but any application other than that doesn't at times. This is really intermittent, The headset may work perfectly the first time I boot the system or after 5 times but after trying a few solutions I felt that I should ask here. This also happens when I unplug the headset when the system is turned on and plug it back in the problem also happens. The system does recognise that the headset is plugged in but the problem of the programs not channeling sounds through the headset kicks in unless I reboot a few times.

I have recently done a full system update with pacman -Syu and tried different packages from pacman to attempt to make this work properly but I doesn't seem to fix it.

I am on a KDE system with a Logitech G930 Usb headset.

Side note: The standard audio controller to my speakers (3.5mm jack) work perfectly fine every time I boot the machine.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: [SOLVED] USB HeadSet Audio Issue

It would help to have some more information about your audio setup. Are you using plain ALSA? Pulse or phonon? What are you using to select which sound device to use?

Re: [SOLVED] USB HeadSet Audio Issue

I don't think I have ALSA installed, Pulse Audio I know isn't installed and I use Phonon to change audio device priority.

Re: [SOLVED] USB HeadSet Audio Issue

No this hasn't been solved.

I will tell you what I have tried.

Installing the most recent version of ALSA which ended up after a reboot the sound not working completely, if I attempted to make a call on skype I would get "problem with your sound device". After uninstalling ALSA and rebooting again the sound is back but to the state it is now.

I did the same with Pulse Audio and same results as ALSA

I tried making a UDEV entry to force the system to use the headset which ended up not allowing the headset to work as well until I deleted the entry and rebooted again. (Though I think I may of done this incorrectly)

On Phonon I have made the Headset the highest priority in Phonon and deferd everythingelse but this hasn't really made a difference.

If I can be more of help please ask.

Re: [SOLVED] USB HeadSet Audio Issue

I might as well update what I am going to try just for the record.

I am going to install ALSA and then try this which is mentioned under ALSA USB HEADSET along with making the UDEV rule also mentioned.

I will notify progress
