crashes

hi,
i usually shut down my system when i leave the house or go to sleep coz of the noisy fan. but every, and really everytime i leave it on and come back it's off.  all usual logs show "going down" then "starting up" these ones miss the "going down" obviously.
when i run "last"
i get this

i want to know how it crashed. what can i do?
i asked my roommates if they turned it off or pulled the plug but they said no. how can i find out what's really happening. i don't wanna lose data on my harddrives because of these crashes.

Power supply problems, maybe? Not really sure, just a wild guess...
