I wonder if archlinux would be installed without the network. Sometimes the sever cannot link to the internet,but just provide services for LAN. We have to reinstall the server system when it appears some problems such as in a factory, but under the condition of non-network, so may I use the CD to reinstall system? Thanks!

It can be done. Though, you'll need a custom repository on your local network to get the packages. Then point pacman to that repository instead of the arch mirrors and install from that.

if you absolutely must update when offline then the only real way to do this is to take a snapshot of the main repo's & store them on a local server/pc that has nfs/samba or sshfs etc.

If all you want to do is install arch on another pc then make sure you have the latest install media then copy your cache & db's to a usb drive & on the new pc work through the steps until first upgrade then mount your usb flash to /var/cache/pacman/pkg & copy over the new DB's from the thumb drive

Try this. You just have to complete a successfull install at least once while online and then you can take it with you to the offline computer.

You can also keep it current by simply running pacman updates preiodically and making new copies of the removable media.
