Firewire audio interfaces? How about a Steinberg/Yamaha MR816x?

I have a Steinberg/Yamaha MR816x that I use with Windows 7 with their proprietary drivers.  I thought I'd try it with Linux, and it doesn't work out-of-the-box, and I suddenly realize that I know nearly nothing about 1394 in Linux.  Is there a "lsusb" equivalent to Firewire?  Would the interface be handled via a kernel module like PCI or USB?  You guys wouldn't happen to have any information regarding a MR816x, would you?

No idea about a Steinberg/Yamaha MR816x , but the Archlinux PRO Audio wiki page lists steinberg SDKs .

There are kernel modules for IEEE 1394 devices, run lsmod | grep 1394 to verify whether your system supports them.
for a lspci / lsusb equivalent, try https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/linu … ire-utils/ .

Other links that may be of help :

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
