Initialization error?

I have tried a few games that just segfault giving no error description such as simcity 3000 (demo) and that mindrover demo. But if I run the game as root the game runs fine?

Another weird thing is that Mindrover worked the very first time I launched it yet once I quit and restart again thats it, no more. Even if I uninstall and re-install the demo. But if the game works as root all the time there must be something wrong.

I've tried googling the answer but no luck. Some results mention that it's a nvidia driver bug but I doubt it because the game works fine in root. Other native opengl games work fine too, such as ut2004.
