Yes and with that you disable some powermanagement for the GPU. So if it makes no change, better to undo it.
No need for you (maybe for others) to add the modules as suggested above by nomorewindows and redo the kernel. If you "lsmod |grep intel" you will see that they are autoloaded anyway. If you add them and something in i915 module dependencies changes, it is likely to mess up.

Actually, with all this modules added, I do not see much changes as before... everything seem to work fine, but I'm still without audio
Strike0: do you want me to rollback and leave just i915 in MODULES and removing the i915.i915_enable_rc6=0 ?

Have you made sure on the audio that you are using is not muted? Did we see an output of lspci? Alsa, OSS, pulseaudio are we using?
Leaving the modules in your kernel doesn't hurt anything, and seems to be picky or a case by case basis. OpenBSD takes my same intel hardware without using drm and still can go into X without it. This is some design implementation of the linux kernel.

Hello, I have a similar problem and being lucky I'll get a working system throught Alt-Ctrl F5 after many trial and after waiting some minutes before switching to graphic window.
In my case the boot stops after "Starting Account Services", I did check folder /etc/modeprobe.d at it is empty. Any help? Thanks!

my box is connected to the tv via HDMI, and till few days ago I was listening without problems.
I should have ALSA, but I'm not sure how to check if it really this one, I've looked for a command, but I couldn't find anything.

lspci | grep "audio" would've been enough at least for now. Intel audio is pretty common, alsa is the part included in the kernel, so I'd check alsamixer for muted channels.

Can you select "HDMI" output in Gnome-system-settings/sound at all?
If not, it could be this bug unrelated to your initial thread: http://askubuntu.com/questions/286591/n … i-on-13-04
Leaving the modules in your kernel doesn't hurt anything, and seems to be picky or a case by case basis. OpenBSD takes my same intel hardware without using drm and still can go into X without it. This is some design implementation of the linux kernel.
Judd Vinet and Theo de Raat are both living in Canada, yes. Let's leave it at that other users (with other intel GPUs) might need the modules in the initramfs maybe.
Strike0: do you want me to rollback and leave just i915 in MODULES and removing the i915.i915_enable_rc6=0 ?
It's totally up to you and what you want to achieve with your system, miky76. I have not been running Arch for very long, but I (like all in the thread for sure) appreciate all the efforts here a lot to keep the distro KISS with vanilla packages. Deviating from vanilla creates pitfalls as the distro (or kernel particularly in this case) rolls on. Thus, only do it when you need to.

Now everything works.
in alsamixer I've just unmuted the S/PDIF and not only the S/PDIF D
I do not exactly why it wa muted, or why before it was working even with this muted.
but now everything seem to work perfectly

This says to remove rc.conf or at least alsa modules from it as it is conflicting with systemd.
