Since upgrading to Linux 3.9.x from 3.8.x I get a kernel panic (flashing keyboard LEDs) if I:
$ emulator-x86 -avd tabletx86 -gpu on -netfast -no-audio -qemu -enable-kvm -m 1024 &
I experience no problems (other than worse performance) with
$ emulator-x86 -avd tabletx86 -gpu on -netfast -no-audio &
I'm able to use KVM without issue using guests running Windows XP and various Linux.
I suspect the kernel should not panic but I don't know if I have enough information to make a useful bug report. I searched around a bit but only found stories about problems with ARM on ARM KVM which I suspect is a different ball field.
The host system is using a "AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor" and the guest Android AVD targeted for some kind of "Intel Atom (x86)" hardware.

3.9.3 is out. So far so good. Fixed.
