Whenever I run Age of Empires II HD (either from Steam or the command line), all that pops up is a black screen. I can hover over the menu buttons and hear the click sound, but I cannot see anything.
I did the following to install it:
1. Install steam and the game on a clean version of wine
2. cd to "drive_c/Program\ Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Age2HD/"
3. Rename the "Launcher.exe" to "Launcher.bak" and "AoK HD.exe" to "Launcher.exe"
4. Inside of steam, add "-nostartup" to the launch options.
5. Run winetricks msxml3
6. Run winetricks vcrun2010 d3dx9_43 xact quartz
7. Use winecfg to Emulate a Virtual Desktop
Running $ wine Launcher.exe -nostartup outputs:
fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation (nil) 1 (nil) 0
ILocalize::AddFile() failed to load file "public/steambootstrapper_english.txt".I'm running Arch x86_64 on 3.6.11-1-ck
Thanks in advance

Hi
Try it on Playonlinux. Works perfectly.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about the new Age of Empires II HD, which was recently released on Steam, not the old Age of Empires game. I have not seen a playonlinux entry for the new AoE.
Hope I'm not just overlooking anything.
