There seems to have been a problem with pacman update today:
:: Starting full system upgrade...
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: cyrus-sasl: requires libsasl=2.1.23
:: cyrus-sasl-gssapi: requires libsasl=2.1.23Yet the current version is the above referred version but libsasl won't update on its own!
[root@home1 ~]# pacman -Ss libsasl
core/libsasl 2.1.26-2 [installed: 2.1.23-10]
Cyrus Simple Authentication Service Layer (SASL) Library[root@home1 ~]# pacman -S libsasl
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: cyrus-sasl: requires libsasl=2.1.23
:: cyrus-sasl-gssapi: requires libsasl=2.1.23Is there a workaround or just wait until the errant package is fixed?

I get this issue as well, just happened this evening.

Slight out-of-sync issue between the testing and core/extra repos - libsasl 2.1.26 is in core, but cyrus-sasl 2.1.26 is still in testing. I'd wait a bit for it to drop, if it doesn't, post a bug.

Looks like it is fixed now - so all is well.

I think this is related but I don't see how it's fixed.
mutt: error while loading shared libraries: libsasl2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
after upgrade. Any suggestion?

It is related. File a bug report. Best work around is to back libasl2 back down to the previous revision.

Works fine here...

└─╼ pacman -Q mutt libsasl

Sorry I forgot to clarify. Mine was uber-mutt.
I switched to mutt-sidebar and that solves my problem.

I think it's enough to rebuild the package. Have you tried that?

You are always responsible for rebuilding AUR packages when official updates with a dependency relationship hit the mirrors.

Thanks for the message. I will remember that the next time.

i had the exact same problem with mutt-sidebar. reinstalling the package solved it.

Yes, I'm pretty sure rebuilding would solve the problem. But I just decided to switch to mutt-sidebar
