DragonRise N64 Controller

I recently bought a N64 controller off of amazon. It seems to work fine but it's device name is generic which means applications cannot create profiles for it. Is there a way to fix this? lsusb line is as follows:

Bus 003 Device 004: ID 0079:0006 DragonRise Inc. Generic USB Joystick

EDIT: Actually, it seems this isn't actually a generic name. An application can find the device under the real name of "Generic   USB  Joystick  ". This includes the spaces. I'm so confused by this...
EDIT: So apparently, it's the ONLY device in the entirety of this list that is called USB Generic Joystick: http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids

Quite interesting...

EDIT: Most Applications except device name to be: "DragonRise Inc. Generic USB Joystick" but seems to get "Generic   USB  Joystick  " instead. Maybe a bug in SDL...?

You don't specifiy which app you are having trouble configuring... assuming you bought an N64 controller for use with an N64 emulator... probably mupen or mupen based frontend...

You can create your own joystick profiles by editing:

/usr/share/mupen64plus/InputAutoCfg.ini

Use an existing entry as a template and tweak away.
