I'm getting the same error with 3.9.2, except my system actually hangs and has to be powered down hard. Nothing related shows up in journalctl. This happens with both the ck and stock arch kernels, and I'm not using any testing packages. I might be able to use alt-sysreq keys, haven't tried yet.
Storage is finalized mei 0000:00:16.0: stop
Same thing here with 3.9.2 both on stock and ck, on noop and bfs schedulers. Sometimes (one in ten times) the reboot/shutdown just hangs after mei 0000:00:16.0: stop.

@falconindy - The error message is harmless, agreed. I would like to get to the bottom of the subsequent hang that has been observed on some systems running the BFS as well as some systems not running the BFS. I do not know if these errors are at all related to the hangs but am interesting in probing. The solution _seems_ to be increasing the tick rate from 300 Hz to 1000 Hz. I have no idea why that would matter, but I have not experienced a freeze on reboot/shutdown since doing so. More here: http://ck-hack.blogspot.com/2013/05/bfs … x-39x.html

Well, I can say that systemd is not to blame for the freeze I spoke of in the previous post. Although I did not have a fully functional openrc system, I was able to boot and verify the same lock when using a tick rate of 300 but not freeze using a tick rate of 1000. These results mirror the findings when booted under systemd. I am now happily switched back to systemd

The error is harmless
I guess this is what we want, except for those who suffer from freezes.

@tom - Are you experiencing this using 3.9.2-1-ARCH and 3.9.2-2-ck?

what do you mean by this? freezes or the annoying messages? I am using 3.9.2-1-ARCH, with messages only but everything else normal.

I interpreted your quote below as you might be experiencing freezes with the stock kernel and wanted to followup.

I'm having this problem with a freshly installed x64 system. Everything is up-to-date, it runs GS with GDM, doesn't have anything from testing repositories/experimental part installed.
The thing that bothers me is that about 1/10 my system freezes at start-up. Pressing the poweroff button unfreezes the system and shuts it down(SIGKILL). This happens only 1/10 times or so... You guys found out what is causing this?
@johnrt59: That works, but doesn't solve anyproblem. The problem is with the startup freezes.

I'm seeing this error too. All packages are up to date.

I doubt that your problem is related to the systemd-cgroups-agent error warning on shutdown since this message is considered harmless and can be safely ignored.

I'm having exactly the same problem, still without a clue about what is causing the freezes also in 3.10

Any solution to the systemd-cgroups-agent errors at shutdown/reboot? I'm still seeing them with the 3.10.7 kernel.
