[Solved]Can't open new programs after wakeup

First of all, hello. I'm new here.

Secondly, I'm having some wierd problem. Whenever my computer wakes up after a sleep (Lid-close) it seems like i can't open new programs. The computer itself works fine, and the already open programs work too, but as soon as i try and open up a new window i get an error.

No protocol specified

** (gedit:1984): WARNING **: Could not open X display
No protocol specified

(gedit:1984): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0

Here's the relevant dmesg from the wakeup:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/5675216/

I'm running openbox if that makes any difference.

I hope someone know what's causing this and how to fix it.

What does systemd's journal have to say about things?

Re: [Solved]Can't open new programs after wakeup

Hello.

I had a similar (same?) problem because  my hostname was dhcppc1 but in /etc/hostname file I had "localhost".  I changed it for dhcppc1 and problem solved.

Hope it helps.

Nothing that looks remotely interesting.

I never changed my computers name from localhost, is that a problem?

EDIT:
It turns out that that is a big deal. I changed my hostname, and now everything is great.

Yes it is a big deal, and there is a reason why that step in included in the beginners guide.  It can create unforseen consequences, as you ahve found out.

Please mark the thread as [Solved], which can be done by editing the first post.
