Unity DE, Network Manager icon not appearing

I borked my previous install of Arch (Cinnamon and GNOME using the LightDM greeter) when I uninstalled GNOME (I think it uninstalled Cinnamon too!). After I did this, I decided to try Unity for Arch because I really like the Unity interface. I have it installed and working, but I seem to be having trouble with a fairly minor issue: the Network Manager icon will not show up in my notification area. I've done a few searches and tried a few things from other posts, but none of them have worked. My wireless does work using the Network icon in the System Settings, but it sure would be nice to have the Network Manager icon working! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
