[kind of SOLVED] desmume - very slow after latest gtk/gnome upgrade

I wonder why, suddenly I jumped from +/- 60 fps to 50 fps with auto frame-skipping on Fire Emblem.

Anybody noticed this?

Re: [kind of SOLVED] desmume - very slow after latest gtk/gnome upgrade

I installed desmume today for the first time to play Castlevania Order of Ecclesia. It was faster in wine.

0 frame skipping.
Linux ran at 45 FPS.
Wine ran at 60 FPS with quite some leeway without frame limiter.

In wine I turned on the dynamic recompiler.

I was getting pretty good speed until gtk2 and gtk3 were upgraded to their latest versions yesterday... hum.

It's no secret the code is Windows-optimized, but this sudden performance drop is strange.

Are you sure it's running with the dynamic recompiler enabled? I remember last time i tried using it i had to manually pass the command line flag to use the dynarec.

Edit: Confirming that for me dynarec is not enabled by default despite what it says in desmume --help

I can enable it with desmume --cpu-mode 1

Thanks, that's exactly the reason of the performance drop, I enabled the dynamic recompiler and I got better performance, but no as quite as before. BUT I reinstalled desmume with 'downgrade' and then upgraded it to 0.9.9-2 and it was just as fast as before. Very weird.

It seems that desmume isn't saving its options - it will always start with 'frameskip=0' despite any changes, for instance.
