Is there any unofficial repository for UMPlayer?

Hi!

I am using UmPlayer, I am very satisfied with it. Right now I would have to reinstall it due to some problems, but the compilation from source consumes a lot of time. Is there an official or unofficial repo for this great player?

It would seem that on their site there are downloads for binary rpms and debs. I am sure you could fanagle that to work with a PKGBUILD. It certainly wouldn't be the first time.

I see, but about a year ago I have read about an unofficial repo which can be added to pacman.conf and then the installation is only a few seconds. But now I am unable to find that webpage with google where I have read about that repo.

There's an umplayer xz package, PKGBUILD and file/dir listing available from Chakra Linux' repo;
Of course, Chakra Linux != Arch Linux, so this isn't a particularly great idea, as that way will quite possibly lead to breakage - an option nonetheless, albeit a poor one.

Personally I'd compile-install from the AUR, I don't find myself regularly compiling such packages to be concerned with finding third-party repos.

Honestly, I don't see the advantage over smplayer (which I have installed but don't really use). I just call mplayer directly... it works in framebuffer as well.

I wasn't even aware of umplayer until reading this thread. I also use mplayer, well; mpv. The simplicity of calling it from the console is the draw for me, and doesn't complain if you background it and ditch the term you invoked it from.

Yeah, I've been trying mpv, and it is nice. Though I keep mplayer installed since it is updated by the repos. I wasn't aware of umplayer either until this thread. So I built and installed it to give it a whirl, and it is indeed nice, but I see no clear advantage over smplayer.

archlinuxgr unofficial repo has umplayer-svn 181-5.

+1 for mpv :-)

No good! Konstantin_hu would have to compile mpv, and that might take a long time.

I use mpv, too. I wonder how long it will be before mpv is in the official repositories...
