How to run X on NVIDIA card instead of Intel on Optimus laptop

Hi All,

I'm running Gnome 3.8 on Asus laptop with 2 graphic cards - NVIDIA and Intel (Optimus technology).
I have installed Bumblebee and everything works fine with Nvidia card being run as "optirun program". X always runs on Intel card.
But sometimes (few times a day) I get screen locked (i.e. I can hear sounds, but the image on the screen
is not redrawn). I can see the following in the system logs:

[drm:i915_hangcheck_hung] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung

It's a known bug of intel driver, which exists for years, but it seems Intel doesn't really care how many people are suffering from it.

MY QUESTION IS:
Is there way to run X (Gnome 3l) on NVIDIA card, bypassing Intel, to get rid of those annoying freezes?
(I just tired waiting this problem to be fixed).

The optimus technology works in a different way as compared to previous generation of graphics cards. There is no way you can switch off the intel card.

The best you can do is, you can make most of your apps run with optirun in terminal with nvidia graphics.

I'm aware of this, there is a number of similar bugs reported. I'm currenly subscribed to this one on Ubuntu tracker.

There seems to be some progress on this...
