Hi,
I installed evince on my Archlinux a couple of days ago. I can't visualize any .ps or .eps document. It just keeps on "loading" but I can't see anything. I had the same problem when I installed Ubuntu 13.04 on another machine, but I thought it was just ubuntu-related.
I tried okular -> same problem. I can only render those documents with gv. This is what I get if I open the document from the terminal:
[mattia@mattia-notebook plot]$ evince graph.ps
undefined -21
undefined -21
(evince:17771): EvinceDocument-CRITICAL **: ev_document_misc_pixbuf_from_surface: assertion `surface' failed
undefined -21
(is there a document viewer as light as evince, and that allows me to view pdf, ps, eps and djvu documents?)

Thanks! I tried both of them. Since I keep having the issues, I guess the problem is in ghostscript. My version il 9.07-2. What can I do?

If the same issue happens on different machines / OSs, I'd ask myself if the documents I'm trying to load are not the culprit…

I'm trying to open documents that I used to open without any problems before... so I don't think those documents are the problem!

I found this: http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=693843
It is a bug related to the decimal separator (I live in Italy). It says "fixed", but I will have to wait until the new release in August, or use the "LANG=C" option when launching the file...
Btw thanks for the answers, zathura is exactly what I was looking for!
