I've got an issue with microphones with pulseaudio, when I run `pavucontrol`, I can see that audio is being picked up on my microphone, (a logitech c920), after a short period of time (exacerbated by opening applications, it seems any upset it, even eclipse) the levels in `pavucontrol` no longer move, and the input hangs, the microphone is still recognised, but when I try and record, no input is recorded.
I'm running:
* 3.9.3-1 Linux
* pulseaudio 3.0-3
* pulseaudio-alsa 2-2
I've got no modifications in my /etc/pulse/default.pa
I've tried running `LANG=C pulseaudio -vvvv --log-time=1 > ~/pulseverbose.log 2>&1` as detailed at the ubuntu wiki article for PA logging, the output can be found here
I've tried using a different webcam as a source of audio, exactly the same thing happens.
Sometimes after hanging the input revives itself after a little while (maybe less than a minute?). To remedy the issue, I can set the profile in `pavucontrol` for the webcam under 'configuration' to off, then toggle it back to 'analog stereo input', the volume meter jumps around for a bit indicating that the PC can read input from the microphone, then the same thing happens.
I haven't experienced this problem before, it only came to my attention when I tried to have a skype conversation today. A few weeks ago the microphone was known to be working.
If people have suggestions on where I should start looking for problems, what logging options to use under pulseaudio to find out more I would be very grateful.

Hi, I haven't as I don't really know where to start debugging it. I wonder if it's a buffer overflow as it works for a short period of time and then cuts out.

The problem is still occuring with pulseaudio 4.0-2. If I open Java or Skype, the input hangs and continues to hang until I go into `pavucontrol` and disable, and then reenable the device.
