[SOLVED] pacman doesnt locate some packages

although it finds some, many packages pacman cannot locate. for example, it does not locate emerald when i run pacman -S emerald or pacman -Ss emerald. I have tried changing the mirrors many times, but It doesn't help. any ideas?

emerald and compiz have been dropped to AUR and pacman doesn't support AUR https://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail … 24956.html
When you can't find packages with pacman, always search the AUR.

Emerald and compiz et al. have been dropped from the repos.

You can always check the package repo online: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/
