ArchWiki - general questions (translation)

Hi,
I started translating the ArchWiki into Czech language, current translation is about four years old, so it's quite a mess. I've got a few general questions:

  1. In the process of moving articles into correct categories, several categories were left empty. Should I manualy request their deletion or will some bot do it automatically?

  2. When I merged some article into another, should I explicitly request the deletion of the one that's left, or is using of 'Deletion' template sufficient (with proper explanation of cource)?

  3. I noticed some categories in czech version of Table of Contents, which is obviously generated automatically, have bad translation - where can I fix it?

  4. Is there some tool to easily browse/search through articles in specific language? Suffix version of this would be sufficient. It would make my work a bit easier...

Thanks for your answers or any suggestions to translation!

Hi :-)

1. There's https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sp … Categories so I guess you don't have to manually flag them for deletion.
2. Either flag for deletion or use the old one as a redirect.
3. I found https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ta … C4%8Cesky)
4. Have a look at https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 3#p1218123

Thanks! Further, I see that many Czech articles are included in the Česky root category. I think it's bad, '(Česky)' after the title should be enough. Should I continue removing it? Or better, can some bot do it automatically?

I'm not sure I understand. I think having a language category is useful.

Yes, but listing every article in the root language category? It's interesting solution to the search problem, provided every article is listed in the root category. As the '(Language)' suffix is standard, I'd say the inclusion in root category is useless.

Re: ArchWiki - general questions (translation)

Removing the language category would mean that English articles wold need '(English)' suffix.
If I get it right, you want the articles to belong to subcategories like 'About Arch (Česky)' and 'Guidelines (Česky)' but not to Česky language category?

I don't mean removing the category itself, I mean removing articles from that category.

So the category lists only subcategories and not articles in e.g. the Czech language?

That's the idea, and that's how it's done on English root category page. There are far more English articles, but the Czech root category page is chaotic as it is...

Yep, not only you _can_, but according to the second rule in Help:Style#Categories you _should_ remove articles from root categories.

Re: ArchWiki - general questions (translation)

I think I finished recategorizing Czech articles, could you please delete unused Czech categories (with suffix '(Česky)')?
