[Laptop] Strange messages at boot - Faulty HDD?

After today's upgrade & reboot  I get some messages starting with "sda..." during the boot process. However, the system boots well. Since I don't understand much from that, I post the entire dmesg output:

Could someone take a look at this? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Probably it was not HDD but DVD... Anyway, all those messages disappeared at today's boot, i have no idea why...

Could you specify the precise message you refer to?
In your dmesg I see everything normal, most of the sda outputs are normal, about mounting and filesystem check
DVDs not usually appear as sda but as cdrom/dvd/cd/sr0

Re: [Laptop] Strange messages at boot - Faulty HDD?

Do you have your backup up-to-date?

Check your HD smart status and see if anything is failing. I would say check the sata cable but since it is a laptop there is no cable.

If it happens again I might say either the disk is developing some problem or the sata connector on the motherboard or the motherboard itself might be developing some problem. If your laptop is a few years old I'd start doing regular backups just in case.

Edit:
After a closer look it seems you may be right, the problem seems to come from the cdvd drive and not the hard disk. Keeping an eye on the hd smart status and doing regular backups is still a good idea though.

Yeah, coming from the dvd drive.  It may be failing, or possibly you have a bad disc in the drive.  I've seen a bad disc cause that sort of error before.
