trying to install arch on msata drive, get grub "no such partition"

I have an intel DH77EB desktop motehrboard with an msata slot. I got a crucial M4 CT032M4SSD3 msata SSD which is listed as compatible with this board. Upon following the exact steps in the Arch install guide in the wiki, I reboot after the install is finished. The system then hangs for a long time on "Welcome to Grub" before giving me "error: no such partition" and dumping me out to rescue mode. If i boot from the Arch ISO, I can still mount the system partition perfectly. Windows 7 installs fine onto this SSD, so I don't think it's the hardware. Googling for this issue produced nothing useful, as did searching this forum.

Re: trying to install arch on msata drive, get grub "no such partition"

Please mark your thread as [Solved] if everything's working for you now.

For future reference: In my machine (Lenovo T520) The BIOS/UEFI likes to change the drive assignments when new drives are attached before boot; i.e., while the msata is "/dev/sdb" under normal use, if the machine is booted with an external drive attached, the msata becomes "/dev/sdc" for no good reason.  It took me a while to realize that myself. tongue
