dminiwm and larrythewindowmanager are updated to include the above addition.

I've also added a comment and setting to sample.rc.conf for selecting Super as the resize/move key in stacking mode in snapwm. The option to do that has been there for ages...

Since ompldr has died I've lost the images that were in the first post of this thread.
I think I've found a more permanent solution for hosting images for the wm so have added new images to the first post to show what it can do.

I have been slack lately...

I've fixed up how windows are ordered when changing desktops. If there was a couple of transient windows they were shuffled a bit when coming back to the desktop they were on. That's been bugging me for a while but not often enough to remember to do something about it 'till now.

It was a wet and windy morning this morning...

... so now the bar can be transparent if running a compositor.
New option in the rc file sets how see-through

# For semi transparent bar if using a compositor e.g. compton

I've changed the approach to how transient windows are managed.
Now it is possible to cycle through normal and transient windows with Alt+j/k, transient windows can be moved to other desktops and killed with the wm's kill_client function.
Seems to make the whole experience a bit more pleasant.

After the recent changes I was having a bit of an issue at times moving windows between desktops if the desktop on one of the monitors was in stacking mode. Had time to sort that out today.

How come multi monitor environments aren't working when using a standard RandR setup?
Is it required to configure monitors in the old fashion Xinerama (xorg config file) way?

Same old setup I've had forever. My battery is toast so I'm down to just a clock. It's on a netbook, so it's mainly for fullscreen mode.

Here's what I use in .xinitrc for two monitors with the laptop

I have stlarch fonts installed and can render a clock if I run termite with this config

font = stlarch medium 12

and then type:

When you print the 'icon' in termite you copy it from there to your .xinitrc.

Sorry for not responding to your query earlier. I forgot my charger in another city and did not really need my laptop meanwhile.

It did no occur to me that I had to setup the display in my .xinitrc. Coming from XMonad I am used to be able to add/remove monitors dynamically. Thank you for your swift response though.

One of the drawbacks to using a more minimal window manager is you miss out on the less often used extra functions.
When you add a monitor the window manager will have to be closed and started again, or another instance run on another DISPLAY.
e.g.

startx -- :1

I have no experience with projectors but I assume they would just clone the current DISPLAY and that that would be the purpose of adding the projector. I don't know how well things would go having a separate desktop on a projector, try it and see if you like

tldr: If I add everything to the wm it won't be anything like minimal.

I've added a function to snapwm to close any open windows nicely(if possible), exit the window manager and shutdown or reboot via one keyboard shortcut.
In the key.conf file commands are set up for shutdown and reboot:

CMD shutdowncmd;sudo;shutdown;-P;now;NULL;
CMD rebootcmd;sudo;reboot;NULL;

The names "shutdowncmd" and "rebootcmd" are hard coded but any shutdown/reboot command can be used.

The format for the keyboard shortcut is:

KEY CtrlAlt;s;terminate;1;
KEY CtrlAlt;r;terminate;2;

To shutdown use 1(one) or reboot use 2
As always there's examples in the sample.key.conf.

If there are no issues with it I'll update snapwm-stable shortly.

It's not working here moe. It closes the windows and quits the window manager but doesn't shutdown or reboot. I edited /etc/sudoers so I can shutdown or reboot without a password. I'm on debian, I don't know if that makes a difference.

I just started using snapwm yesterday and, in all honesty, it has been far simpler to use and setup than the other 3 tiling WMs that I've tried. My thanks to Moetunes. I'm not sure how to use the theme.ini file but I'm sure I'll figure it out sooner or later.

While I'm enjoying using snapwm I found 2 minor glitches that I don't undertand. The first is that when I put my cursor in onto certain apps it changes to a very large X instead of the usual pointer. The easiest way to replicate if (if that's possible) is to install Thunar. I have XFCE installed as well but I don't know if that's relevant. Another app that does this is when I right-click to copy text on XFCE's terminal the cursor also changes to a large X.

[edit] Not having used anything but OpenBox, XFCE and KDE I didn't realise that the big X is just the Xwindow default cursor showing up when hovering outside of some app's area.

Once or twice my cursor has disappeared entirely which means I can't properly click items in apps. I restarted X-window and that seems to have fixed it for now. This isn't a big deal but I thought I'd mention it in case you would like to investigate it, Moetunes.

[edit] Forgot to mention that I use the Intel drivers:
