[SOLVED] ArchZFS and the Kernel

I tried to install ArchZFS from the AUR and it failed because I'm using an incompatible kernel version. It requires 3.9.4 & my new installation is using 3.9.5. Will pacman allow me to install a prior version of a package? Or am I stuck with adding linux to IgnorePkg and waiting for the ArchZFS package to be updated?

Re: [SOLVED] ArchZFS and the Kernel

You can search the wiki on how to downgrade packages.

I'm lazy, so please post a link to the ArchZFS package. Maybe updating it is simple, so you can do it yourself.

Re: [SOLVED] ArchZFS and the Kernel

Ok, that seems fairly simple. Any hints as to how to obtain the older package though? I'm searching google for linux-3.9.5-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz, but I'm not having much luck finding a mirror that hasn't been updated.

Wow lol! That was completely justified! I downgraded the kernel and now my zpool is mounted. Thanks for the help smile

Out of curiosity: are using the unofficial repo or have you compiled the AUR package yourself?

The unofficial repo. I believe the zfs package in AUR required 3.9.4-1 as well so either way I think I would've needed to downgrade.

Re: [SOLVED] ArchZFS and the Kernel

Demizerone has a testing repo and a core repo, so you should be able to use either one.  Of course, since it is an unofficial repo, you are relying on him to update the packages in a timely fashion.  He does a pretty damn good job at this, but often times it takes a day or so (which I find to be pretty reasonable).

Hey all, the packages have been update. Thanks for the notifications. I'm thinking about dropping the testing repo. No one uses it and I don't keep up with it that often. Anyone have any objections?

Re: [SOLVED] ArchZFS and the Kernel

I guess it is a good thing I stopped using zfs on my testing install then...

Interestingly, I think I stopeed using it during the same week of that post.
