Unstable login!!

Since two days I cannot login to any phpBB forums when getting logged out or no login at all. Username gets activated but my browser gets logged out after few clicks of browsing. This problem I have encountered in Arch Forums, User Project Forums and FVWM Forums. In AUR and Wiki its fine. Also regardless of any type of browser (Mozilla, Konqueror, Opera and Netscape).

Its not an Arch package problem. Same happens when I am using Windows 98.  Heard few other users also having same problem. Sounds like a PHP script bug.

Confusing is that I am able to login using a XP machine in Cyber Cafee, I am using at the moment (also did fine yesteday).

Re: Unstable login!!

Is happening only on one machine?  If so, I'm thinking a hard drive space, or cache/memory problem, maybe.

Re: Unstable login!!

Why is this an announcement :-?

Have you changed any proxy or firewall settings lately? Perhaps become more strict in your cookie management?

Re: Unstable login!!

When hearing few other users also having the same problem, thought its a Security Advisories issue. Those who have cannot reply when getting logged out when replying.

No changes were made. Tried two different HDs, CPUs and M/Boards. Also LiveCD. All giving same problem.

Did a browing "getting logged out" and seems its a phpBB issue.

Re: Unstable login!!

I was having the same problem (getting logged out of the Arch Linux Forums after less than five minutes, and often while writing a reply),  then the problem seemed to go away for several weeks, then returned again. For the last several weeks now it has gone away again! I had the problem from my Arch-box at home and from my Win XP Professional machine at work. I figured that it was a BB problem.

Another problem that comes and goes is that I stay logged in to the Arch Forum, but after clicking on the button that marks all of the posts in a topic (for example 'Newbie Corner') as being read, I return to the Forum Index and find that absolutely everything has been marked as read. :?

Re: Unstable login!!

Did a test a fresh install with lastest phpBB ver. 2.0.18. Gave the same problem. Tested also with few other php bulletin boards e.g. Phorum, and works fine.

What I don't like with this issue, doesn't make any sense. smile
Now I am logged in with my machine.

Re: Unstable login!!

If "Log me on automatically each visit" is tagged, seems to be a solution.

Re: Unstable login!!

Personally I am having a problem logging in with just Konq. Not sure why. I know I was able to a few months ago. Right now I am using Moz without a problem. I even added bbs.archlinux.org to my availble cookie sites without success. Driving me crazy.

All might want to look at:

if you are still experiencing problems.
