[SOLVED]Lost rEFind menu after mac update

I have Arch on dual boot using rEFind on my MacBook Pro. After certain mac updates, I lost the refind menu at bootup. I got it back by reinstalling refind.  Now I lost it again for the second time. Is there a way to prevent it from happening or fix it manually without reinstalling refind? Thank you for any pointers.

You can use the "bless" command to re-bless rEFInd. See the installation instructions for details, and in particular step #8.
