Greetings to all,
Just installed a fresh new system in VirtualBox 4.2.12. Host is OS X 10.8.4 on a MacBook Air Mid 2012. Works flawlessly - Thanks to all for this beautiful system.
Don't know if I am suppose to post here and don't even know if this is an Arch issue, potentially a VirtualBox issue, or may be a compatibility issue with USB port 3 on my MacBook Air. My apologies in advance if I shouldn't have posted here ![]()
I have an external Wifi Card Ralink rt2800USB which is now causing issue when trying to connect to the newly ARCH VM in VirtualBox. I am using GNOME 3.8.
Usb device Ralink cannot be attach to the VM Arch
USB device 'Ralink' is in use by someone else
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component:

What I have done so far:
First off, I followed the well explained and documented wiki here --> https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VirtualBox --> Thanks for that one as well.
- My user is part of vboxusers
- I installed the virtualbox-guest-utils package
- I installed VB extension In Ports-USB. added my external USB Wifi card. I enabled USB controller and enabled USB 2.0 (EHCI) controller. To no avail.
- Created /etc/modules-load.d/virtualbox.conf with in it 'vboxguest, vboxsf, vboxvideo, vboxdrv' as per wiki to load the drivers at start up.
- I created ~/.xinitrc and added /usr/bin/VBoxClient-all - Since 'systemctl' is being used, I did not know if creating the '~/.xinitrc' file was really useful; gdm is being launched with 'systemctl': May be someone can shade some light for me here
- I added 'VBOX_USB=usbfs' into my '~/.bashrc'; just to make sure that the usb subsystem would be correctly detected but to no avail - still same error message mentioned above - I made sure that my user was part of group 'storage'
I think I have done all I could to try to sort me out - I would not mind some help hoping i came to the right place.
My apologies again if this is not the right place to post.
Kind Regards,
zongo
PS: Found this post --> https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=156247&p=2 - Still same issue.
