Set default terminal in Gnome 3.8

Since gnome-terminal lost support for a transparent backgroud in version 3.8, I switched to evilvte. I tried to register it as the default terminal according to aswers like this one issuing

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.terminal exec 'evilvte'
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.terminal exec-arg '-e'

Evilvte is also compiled to support the -e switch.

Still, applications that have Terminal=true in their .desktop-files silently fail to start when launched from the gnome-shellde. The nautilus-open-terminal extension is a little more talkative telling me that it could not find xterm when it refuses to open the terminal emulator.

So is there a new way to configure the default terminal application in Gnome 3.8?

Re: Set default terminal in Gnome 3.8

I think the message about xterm is because most emulators set the environment variable as $TERM=xterm.
