Hi all!
I installed Arch for the first time with the help of the Beginners Guide and Lifehacker's guide, and it all went great. However, I faced this problem when I came to installing Cinnamon Desktop environment with the SLiM display manager.
I performed all the steps mentioned in the Wiki, which are-:
-Download and install Cinnamon and SLiM using pacman using:
pacman -S cinnamon cinnamon-control-settings nemo slim
-Configured silim's configuration file with the same settings as mentioned in the Wiki
-Configured ~/.xinitrc file as mentioned in the Wiki
Now, my problem is that I cannot log into non root user accounts with my newly installed DE - either manually or by automatic startup.
Things go well with root account except for that fact that there is an unusual lag.
Whenever I enter my non-root username and password in SLiM's GUI it gives me a message:
Failed to execute login command
What should I do in this case?
Thanks

Alight! So I finally got the problem.
I didn't notice the fact that ~/.xinitrc file is not global - i.e., it is different for every user. I had created one for my root user but not for my non-root users.
Now, I'm able to log into DEs normally. Gonna try other DEs too.
