Hi All,
Hoping I can get some help here. I think I'm missing something stupid. I have an ACER laptop (Timeline M5) running arch. I use ALSA without pulseaudio. My computer's inbuilt mic is recognized OK. THe computer has one of those 1/8" inch combo jack's (3 connections) for headphone + mic like an android phone. When I plug it in ALSA routes the sound perfectly. The mic howerver is not used. Here's some system info.
aplay -l

snd 58893 15 snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hwdep,snd_timer,snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_pcm,snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_intel
In /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf I have tried:
options snd-hda-intel model=laptop-dmic
As well as models alc271-dmic and acer
with no change. Basically the internal mic stays on which is workable but there's alot of noise from the fan I'd love to get my headset used. Fiddled around in alsamixer with all of the channels. There's never a channel showing external mic or anything like that.
Any help would be appreciated!
