What to do when can't get in touch with upstream

Hello guys,

I have been using a program (osd_cat) rather extensively, and wanted to add some features to it (say... to make it able to read stdin when barmode is enabled)

I have made the change and I want to get this change upstream.

I found the project repository ( at https://sourceforge.net/projects/libxosd/ )
I have contacted the two owners/maintainers of the project there, and got no responses from either one of them.

The latest change is in 2011/7.
But, the project is in the repositories of many distributions. So I suppose it is not considered orphan.

How should I go about dealing with this?
I wouldn't like to fork it unless I have to. Maybe they did receive my messages but chose to ignore them?

Cheers

You can definitely fork the project as long as the license allows you to do so. If it has been a significant amount of time since you contacted the developers and did not get a reply, I suggest you to go as you wish.
