kdesu gparted kills pulseaudio

REALLY weird glitch: whenever I run GParted using the default .desktop launcher, as in the command kdesu gparted, and type in my root password, KDE asks to forget about pulseaudio devices, Clementine stops playing music in a panic after the current song is finished, and the command

pulseaudio -k

reports

E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to kill daemon: No such process

If I try to relaunch it with pulseaudio --start, I get

$ pulseaudio --start
E: [autospawn] core-util.c: Failed to create secure directory (/run/user/1000/pulse): Permission denied
W: [autospawn] lock-autospawn.c: Cannot access autospawn lock.
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to acquire autospawn lock

UNTIL GParted and all of its subprocesses are fully stopped. Then pulseaudio comes back by itself as if nothing happened. I've done enough testing to confirm this only happens with GParted, not kdesu in general. I can't test whether it happens if I just run GParted WITHOUT kdesu, since it requires root permissions to run.
