This is brilliant. I am going to work on setting something similar up as soon as I can. This should be in the wiki, I think.
Thank you, and here you go: Manual installation: advanced method. (I would really appreciate a 'linguitic check', if possible.)

Edit: Sorry, Ignore. I did not notice post #410
I've had the same problem for a few days now.
error: infinality-bundle.db appears to be truncated: 17312/0 bytes
error: failed to update infinality-bundle (failed to retrieve some files)
error: infinality-bundle-multilib.db appears to be truncated: 17312/0 bytes
error: failed to update infinality-bundle-multilib (failed to retrieve some files)
Switching to a different ISP account or DNS (My own ISP, Google or OpenDNS) doesn't make a difference.
It used to happen once in a while, but for the last 3 or 4 days it has been constant.

"Truncated" means that the repository is empty. Just in case anyone still experiences problems, please make sure you have the new settings in your pacman.conf, as listed in post #410.

Hi, fonts are really better now, but.. after installation (not just after), my Gnome freezed. I blame some extension. I had to use hard reset. And after new login my gnome is in its default setting (like after clean install - theme, font size, icons, wallpaper, favorites in dash..). And I can't change any of these settings. I'm not even sure it is Infinality related, but I haven't done anything else since. Could it be some kind of locked? Did anyone experienced this with Infinality?
EDIT: Somehow fixed by deleting .config/dconf and re-setting everything manually.

Hey, I figured it was about time I finally switched over from the infinality packages but I've run into two problems.
The first can be seen here. I prefer PT Sans for my sans font but it seems to require certain fontconfig settings for the bold font, which were previously set for me with whatever style changes
infctl setstyle linux
does in the infinality packages. I've looked into it but it's difficult for me to figure out which exact changes I'd need to make. I figure before I go any further on my own that I might as well ask first.
The second problem is that incomplete fonts don't by default generate missing styles like bold/italic/etc like they do in the standard arch and infinality packages. Is there a reason this is turned off? And how would I go about enabling it? Some of the generated styles actually look pretty nice.
That aside, I wanted to say thanks for providing these packages and the repo. I prefer the way that you structure your fontconfig settings more than the defaults in the infinality packages, and I like the sharper fonts as well. Thanks!
Edit: it seems the whole PT font family has issues and require specific fontconfig settings. You can find the fonts themselves here.

PT Sans
I took a quick look, and this seems reasonable:
<match target="font">
<test name="foundry"><string>paratype</string></test>
<edit mode="assign" name="autohint"><bool>false</bool></edit>
<edit mode="assign" name="hintstyle"><const>hintfull</const></edit>
</match>
The bold "5" in NatVignetteOne at 11pt never looks good, so I blame the font.

Would the lib32 packages cause 32-bit applications to crash? Just had opensong crash on me (its 32-bit RealStudio).

@Ledti, both issues can be fixed. I've just uploaded updated fontconfig that should do the job. You will have to replace your current Paratype fonts with their Type1 versions, though: click. Missing synthetic bold/slant were reported, but they didn't appear in the upgrade because of my dementia… Now they both are back.
@ngoonee, would you mind checking if the same happens when you replace lib32-* from the bundle with regular ones from the [multilib] repository?

No it doesn't, that's why I'm asking . Being a compiled app I can't debug it so it was just something I tried to install lib32 variants of the packages since that's one of my non-standard things.

You have to add both repositories if you're using multilib, not only the multilib one.

I'm just taking a wild guess here, but I suspect that your issue may be in some way related to this one. I tried to run Opensong in a i686 chroot without success, while it works just fine with a stock i686 freetype2 library. This is what dmesg has revealed:
[215529.871680] opensong[3757]: segfault at 18 ip 00000000081225b7 sp 00000000ff8972e4 error 4 in opensong[8048000+1b7000]

At this point I think that the best you can do is use the stock lib32-freetype2 and wait for the revision of infinality patches. I'm extremely sorry, but it seems that the problem lies far beyond the scope of my skills…

⋯ I mentioned it somewhere earlier in this thread that due to my mistake in versioning (git vs the repo), the new package must be 'downgraded' during installation, which will replace the incorrectly numbered old one (using 'epoch' variable) with the new one. So just for the record: install whatever is new in the repository. ⋯
Did I do this properly..?

Just a little summer font recommendation: Lekton (monospace, variants: regular, italic, bold). It would need a little update to polish rough edges here and there, but it still looks decent and for those who like to escape their mono routine from time to time it may be a nice change to work with. Obligatory screenshots (11px, regular): termite, termite + vim, medit.
You may need to add the following to your /etc/fonts/conf.d/90-tt-fonts.conf:
<match target="font">
<test name="force_autohint">
<bool>false</bool>
</test>
<test name="family">
<string>Lekton</string>
</test>
<edit name="font_type" mode="assign">
<string>TT Instructed Font</string>
</edit>
</match>
Have fun.
Edit: The package is available in [infinality-bundle-any].
