The repository for downloading ATI catalyst drivers is down

The wiki advises installing/updating the catalyst drivers using this /etc/pacman.conf line:

[catalyst]
Server = http://catalyst.wirephire.com/repo/catalyst/$arch

A few days ago that server - catalyst.wirephire.com - went down, leaving me unable to update Catalyst when the new kernel arrived recently. Does anyone know if/when it will be back up? Who runs that server anyway?

Re: The repository for downloading ATI catalyst drivers is down

http://catalyst.wirephire.com/repo/catalyst/ shows 'Bandwidth Limit Exceeded'. Maybe it will be back again early July?

Try https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ca … om_the_AUR

Yes, I've mailed Apocalypsus who was kind to serve catalyst repositories for all these years.
Right now I'm waiting for his answer. Please be patient and use AUR when necessary

Re: The repository for downloading ATI catalyst drivers is down

Installing from AUR demands I downgrade my Xorg from 1.14, which that repository never demanded. Also, I have an HTTP server on my Centos 6 machine that I can offer as a backup mirror in case this happens again.

The note in the wiki says 'The beta Catalyst driver 13.6 does support Xorg 1.14 now.' so I guess you should try catalyst-test 13.6 https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/catalyst-test

And I operate a repository mirror for Linux Mint, not much free space left but sure enough for catalyst packages smile
I suggested a rsync access, if Vi0L0 effectively uses it then I'll add a public rsync module so you (and everybody else) can mirror the packages on your server too.

I don't think the subject is "in case this happens again". I think it's more "when it happens again". Should Archlinux keep getting more and more users, I don't think this shared hosting can keep up very long.  There are various options, plenty of things that can be done wink

Re: The repository for downloading ATI catalyst drivers is down

I'm currently backing up catalyst.wirephire.com/repo/catalyst to my home server using HTTrack:

http://70.239.162.206/catalyst.wirephir … /catalyst/

the i686 part is finished mirroring, but the x86_64 bit is still downloading... at 20 KB/s
