I did an update, and instead of reading what the site said to do I just did a --ignore=filesystem, and didn't ignore bash, which caused an error when installing the kernel package, because it couldn't find bash. Instead of doing the smart thing and reinstalling the kernel after upgrading filesystem, I did the stupidest possible thing and rebooted. So yeah, I can't boot into my system. I get dropped into a rescue shell that has no modules to load, and no access to the drive.
I've spent the last four hours trying to unsuccesfully boot from USB. I created what I think is a correct UEFI boot USB stick, but it won't work. I can't boot from a normal USB stick either. Only thing I can do is get to that rescue shell, or to a grub shell. Any ideas? I'm a little lost, frustrated, and tired right now.
Grub can't seem to access my usb stick either, so booting from there doesn't seem like an option.

Whoa, so typing it out here helped my mental clarity.
My issue (if it helps other frustrated people like me) was an option somewhere in the computer setup that said "fast bios". It was enabled. It meant fast boot, yes, but no USB detection. Disabled it, and now I can boot from the USB stick. I still have to do the system recovery, but at least I removed this blocker.

The only solution would be boot from an usb live cd ( or an actualy dvd ) and then chroot into the install to fix your broken installation. [1]
