% sudo pacman -Ss ldb

I fail to see how this will resolve anything, as both packages seem to own some files?

No they don't. Look at the file listing.
Edit: nvm, comm says I'm wrong.

This may be a bug.
@fsckd
I did look and found some overlap. Maybe the listing in http://www.archlinux.org/packages/ is not yet updated.
I've just updated pkgfile dbs and it too says there's some overlap e.g.
$ pkgfile /usr/bin/ldbedit
extra/ldb
extra/sambaLast edited by karol (2013-07-04 13:10:22)

Merged in henk's thread as it is the same problem; original title "Updating samba throws error message."

Judging from previous experience, this kind of problems is usually caused by an out of sync mirror.
However, I might have spoken too soon, indeed there seems to be some overlap between packages. I see samba has been flagged as out-of-date but no bug has been submitted in the bugtracker about this, lets wait a little and see, I'm sure this will be solved very soon.

It is a good idea to check the bugtracker when you encounter upgrade errors

It doesn't work for me! I updated ldb manually by removing ldb and samba, then reinstalling ldb... but now samba complains that there are file conflicts.
Edit: nevermind, I'm stupid. I downloaded samba-4.0.7-2 directly from the main page, and that works, so I guess I'm just not looking at the most recently-updated mirror here.

this worked for me:
pacman -Syu --ignore sambathen
pacman -Syuregards,

That works for me on my x86_64 machines but all of my i686 machines still have the problem - so this seems solved only on x86_64 at the moment. Anyone else confirm?l
I resynced on my i686 machines and the problem remains - version pulls in the 4.0.7-2 package file but the conflict remains - so I am not sure this is solved for i686?

Checking the link LordChaos73 provided it seems all the packages were updated.
Update your mirrors before updating.

Thanks, this helped me, issue a thing of the past now! Quite amazing, one quick search, first thing that I find and voilà, all sorted! :-)
