You might also want to ask on the wayland mailing list.

AFAIK (and haven't tested it myself) the only thing that is supposed to work is a Qt webkit thing.

No Firefox, no Chromium, no internetzzz on wayland ![]()

What about epiphany? It uses webkit + gtk3 which has a wayland backend.

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

The stable webkitgtk is not compatible yet. If I remember correctly that has something to do with gl surfaces instead of egl. You might want to try the development version.
Edit: You can always use lynx or elinks ![]()

I get scared every time someone proposes something like that. And its even scarier to think that some people actually browse the web like this and think its normal. ![]()

Define "normal"!

Next you'll tell me that watching videos in ASCII isn't normal...

Oh, I wasn't trying to imply that usage of text based browsers was "normal". But ACSII videos... are there other options?

Haha, you're still watching videos in ASCII? That's just silly. Y'all need to upgrade to ANSI immediately.
Back on-topic: I'd love to see if anything comes of this, I have yet to find a web browser that functions natively in wayland.
All the best,

On What works with Wayland? the last sentence reads:
QtWebKit (web browser) works. Anything migrated to Qt5 is likely to work. Qt5 Alpha was released 2012-04-03.
What about qupzillza-qt5?

Why not use chromium through XWayland?

I wanted to make a more serious joke out of that, but google gave me this. So, now we don't only know what normal is, we even know where it is. ![]()

He wants pure wayland. Sadly we are not there yet. But at least we are close. ![]()

Apparently, according to the incredibly professional journalism that is phoronix
, webkitgtk+ is currently being ported.

I only care about FF to be honest. The devs don't seem to care that much.
j/k
I read the related bugs and the gtk3 port seems to be near but i don't know if there are more things missing.
As i said we are close. Enlightenment 18 -if they release it before we all die- will be able to run purely with WL and gnome and kde are getting there. ![]()

I compiled the dev-version and it works with dwb. I only have some strange problems with keyboard and mouse input. GTK3 doesn't register the events, maybe that's because I run xorg alongside it?

Do you know of a stable version of a browser released that works natively with wayland ? It seems the most promising should be the Qt/Webkit platform, but I haven't found a single browser out of the dozens I installed to actually work.

You might want to try a self-compiled version of chromium with ozone-wayland.

pypi posted a PKGBUILD here > https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 2#p1474272 for Ozone-Wayland but he said it needs more work.
Seems its not as simple as ./configure make make install. ![]()
