Greetings everyone,
I tried to install Arch today and i got the following error message when the PC tried to boot from the CD-ROM drive:
isolinux: Disk error 80, AX = 420F, drive 9F
Boot failed: press any key to retry...
I retried a couple times but it wouldn't go past this stage.
Any suggestions?
My PC has Pentium 4 @ 2.4GHZ, 1GB RAM DDR1, 60GB HDD and a DVD drive which I used to boot from.
Thanks in advance for your time!

How did you download the iso, and how did you create the CD you are trying to boot from? Have you successfully booted this machine from a CD before? Are you able to boot this machine from USB?
(edit) an ixquick search on this error suggests that you may have an improperly burned CD: https://ixquick.com/do/search?keyword=D … C+drive+9F
This is why I asked the questions in my first paragraph.

Hi and thanks for reply,
I downloaded the iso from Arch Linux website direct HTTP download here.
I created the CD using Xfburn in Xubuntu 12.04. I've used this utility lots of times, it works flawlessly so far.
I've booted from CD this specific machine lots of times, it worked OK so far.
I am not able to boot via USB, tried some times, it cannot be done it seems...
Any other info I need to provide? will try to re-burn when I get home from work and will post again if it solves the problem. Thanks for your time so far;)

Verify the downloaded iso
https://www.archlinux.org/download/
Run:
md5sum /path/to/iso
And check if its the same as the md5 hash on the downloads page
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/US … tion_Media
Try a USB if you can, or burn another disc.

Ok, I will verify the md5 and if it turns out corrupt or something will re-burn.
USB boot is not an option, I've tried a few times in the past and it won't boot.

Hi again.
md5sum showed same result as in the downloads page.
Guess I'll just re-burn!
