Hi All,
I have a dell vostro 1720 I am trying to get wireless working with networkmanager.
When I boot the laptop with knoppix, networkmanager detects the card, and connects to my wireless router without problems.
Long story short: Networkmanager applet dumpes core when I try to connect to my router, and I have no network connection, until I plug in my network cable.
the following information comes from knoppix:

I will now try to setup a wireless link with the cli method, so I can pinpoint the problem more accurately.

If you are okay with proprietary software (specifically a binary blob that you are using for b43 anyway), maybe you should try the broadcom-wl package. The one in the AUR has recently been updated to work with kernel 3.10, so I am unsure if it will still build against the 3.9.9 kernel. But it would certainly be worth checking out anyway. I think if it doesn't you can check here for previous version, or more specifically, previous patches.

I have reloaded the kernel driver, but it did not change the problem.

Wireless network now works via NetworkManger. I have updated my kernel (and the rest of the system) from 3.9.8 to 3.9.9, rebooted, and I have entered the key into network manager.
I still don't understand why, but my problem is fixed.
Thanks for your help,
Cedric
