[solved]xterm 294 breaks xmonad focus switching

After upgrading xterm from 293 to 294 this morning xterm is only capturing keyboard input when the mouse cursor has focused on its window. It is not sufficient to focus on the xterm window with keyboard commands. Without the mouse focus no text appears when the keyboard is used, but xmonad commands still function as expected.

Other programs will still capture keyboard input when focused on with keyboard shortcuts regardless of where the mouse cursor is.

Downgrading xterm to 293 resolves the issue.

Solution: back to normal with xterm 295

There were few changes -

Perhaps the change to use the --as-needed linker option is not working as intended.

Re: [solved]xterm 294 breaks xmonad focus switching

I'm running xterm, Fluxbox and ArchLinux. After a recent upgrade, whenver I launch uxterm and try to type, it does not respond. If I launch another uxterm and close it (with X button, because Ctrl+D does not work), I get the first one working.

How do I debug this problem?

Same problem here with fluxbox + xterm 294. Downgrade to 293 makes it work correctly.

Thank you. This is exactly what I'm experiencing. Should I mark this topic as solved?

No. I'll merge this into that thread so all of the responses are in the same place...

xterm 295 already in repos. This version solves the issue. So the post can be marked as solved IMO.

Forgive me, but.... solved? I'm new here, where exactly is the solution? The link sends me directly back to this thread.... is the solution just to downgrade to the previous version of xterm? I too, am experiencing this strange mouse focus behavior.

Ezarr,  the solution is to upgrade to xterm 295 which is now in repos.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Thanks Lone_Wolf, just got the update and everything is thankfully working flawlessly again. It seems I overlooked Dr Walencia's post about version 295.
